Mothers Tomb

Inauguration of  Annai Scholastica Memorial Hall, Vellore

The Congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was started in the year 1952 at Azhagappapuram, Kanyakumari district, South India by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to our beloved Mother Scholastica. She was a woman of simplicity, humility and patience. She won the hearts of thousands of people with her divine smile on her face and radiated the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus through her life. Even today her legacy lives on and is inspiring number of people to come near to Christ and receive the bliss of joy and hope.

It was the desire of the Congregation to built an monument in the memory of our mother Scholastica for the past 15 years. Now the plan is succeeded by bringing out a pyramid shaped memorial hall in the name of Annai Scholastica, who always wished to be a saint.

12th October 2023 was the day of thanksgiving to the Lord Almighty for the gift of our beloved mother Scholastica as the founder of the Congregation. We are very fortunate to have this Memorial Hall and Mother’s Tomb being blessed by the Most Rev. Msgr. Claudio Maniago, who was the chief guest of the day. It was the day of sentiments and emotions for all the sisters and the children of Mother Scholastica about the sweet remembrance of all the pleasant times spent with their beloved mother. It was also the day of family gathering as there were around 25 children of Mother Scholastica gathered to celebrate their mother’s love and care for them.

The cultural programs by the children and the sisters added extra color to the happiness and joy of the day.

It was a great event written in the history of the Congregation to have three great personalities of the Catholic Church amongst us, The Most Rev. Msgr. Claudio Maniago, the Arch Bishop of Catanzaro, Italy, The Most Rev. Msgr. Francis Kalist, the Archbishop of Pondicherry and Cuddalore and I. John Robert, the Diocesan administrator of Vellore.
